Who and what are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced Manager – Carbon and Ecosystem Verification to support our Meghalaya tree planting project. You will be an essential support to the Executive team and a trusted go-to colleague to help us get things done in Carbon Project Development. You will work autonomously setting their own goals, strategies and execute on them with speed and precision. You will be at the heart of the organisation, assisting the Executive with a broad range of responsibilities and making sure things happen efficiently and effectively in our carbon projects

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities and conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of new carbon emissions reduction projects, as well as on behalf of clients.
  • Manage the pipeline of existing and new Carbon Development projects to ensure issuance of Carbon Credits on VERRA, Regen Registry and Gold Standard, against potential or existing contracts.
  • Independently develop and write carbon project scoping and feasibility reports, project management and implementation plans, project risk management plans, carbon and co-benefit monitoring plans and reports, carbon project cost and returns spreadsheets.
  • Lead and write documents that are compliant with VERRA methodology rules including Project Baseline Design and Project Design Documents, Project Information Notes, Monitoring Plans, Risk Matrices, Sampling Design, Audit design, and lead the end to end process with VVBs to provide them the required data to ensure carbon credits get issued for the projects.
  • Liaising with NGOs and project owners, such as reforestation companies or NGOs, indigenous groups and other landholders to create working relationships to develop carbon emissions reduction projects.
  • Provide briefs to our Team to improve the MRV App to help data collection and monitoring meet the ARR methodology requirements.
  • Onboard yourself into Earthbanc Workplace, JIRA, Confluence and Earthbanc MRV App – and check the posts each day and reply conscientiously with Earthbanc colleagues to ensure you keep moving priorities and project deliverables forward.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor Degree, Applied Diploma or Masters in appropriate field.
  • VVB Auditor ISO certification.
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ working in relation to the voluntary carbon market (VERRA & Gold Standard Methodologies) and knowledge of compliance markets.
  • Experience with one of the following project management or program management software tools is mandatory: Workplace, Confluence, JIRA, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Afforestation, Reforestation and Agroforestry projects.
  • Work with a broad range of stakeholders including NGOs, government and landowners.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently, with colleagues based in different locations and time zones around the globe.
  • Good project and time management skills.
  • Ability to independently write carbon project scoping and feasibility reports, project management and implementation plans, project risk management plans, carbon and co-benefit monitoring plans and reports, carbon project cost and returns spreadsheets – many of these have existing templates and do not require ‘re-inventing the wheel’
  • Result-oriented work approach with the ability to work quickly from concept creation to the implementation of successful campaigns.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Indigenous stakeholders, landowners, NGOs, including negotiating landowner and land title agreements.
  • Experience managing a team in complex and geographically diverse locations.
  • Able to travel to projects and spend time in the field and cooperate work with partners to survey communities, landscapes, and develop required carbon project development documentation for buyers and also registries.
  • Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to draw conclusions and inform decisions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset.
  • The role is expected to take the initiative and be a part of defining and refining the project strategy and documentation, bringing their unique knowledge and skills to collaboration, and incorporating these into the briefs in order to create project outcomes for farmers, nature and stakeholders. 
  • Experience of communicating to a diverse range of audiences.  
  • Experience designing and presenting strategies, plans, processes, metrics, and information in a clear and comprehensible manner.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful or complex situations.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and key performance indicators.
  • Experience working with virtual teams in fast growing companies.
